Baby #52, 53, and 54: Part 1

Everything really fell into place after Theodore and Zeus became toddlers. I continued to spend time with all of my children, trying to make it up to them how absent I had been in the past. It was like the twins brought the family closer together. If it hadn’t been for them being dropped on my doorstep, I’m not sure I would have ever snapped out of what I was going through.

Things had been going so well that I was able to start jogging around town again. Jogging has always been an activity that helped clear my mind and I have always enjoyed doing it so it was nice to be able to do that again.

It was during one of these afternoon runs that I met the next father for my challenge. Of course, at the time I didn’t know he was going to be the next dad. I wasn’t even convinced I was ready to continue my challenge yet.

There is a park just down the road from my house. Most of the time, this particular park is very peaceful and quiet with rarely anyone else around. It’s one of my favorites to go to during my jogs, but yet, there he stood smiling. It was almost as if he was waiting for me.

His name was Edward Rayner…

Edward was very charismatic and easy to talk to. I had always been told that I had a way with word, but Edward was quite the charmer. Because of this, we got along really well.

“I have a confession to make, Christy. I knew exactly who you were before we even started talking today. You are well known around Sunset Valley as a baby challenge mother, and I admit that’s why I was waiting for you here today. I want to participate in your challenge.”

“I don’t know…” I stated.

I explained to Edward my hesitations about continuing my challenge. About how I had neglected my children and didn’t think it would be fair to bring another baby into the world until I knew I would be able to give them all the attention that they deserved. I explained how uneasy the idea of getting close to someone felt to me after getting my heart broken, even if it was only close physically.

“Let me convince you…” he said mysteriously. “Let me take you to dinner tonight so we can get to know one another better. Then you can decide whether or not I would be a good candidate for your challenge.”

I thought about the idea for a few minutes, before finally smiling and agreeing to his suggestion.

A large package arrived on my front porch later that evening. Inside was a dress that Edward had sent me especially for our date. I quickly tried it on, and it fit perfectly. I was amazed that he had gotten my size right without having to tell him.

I arrived at the bistro at exactly 8:30 that night. Normally the restaurant would be packed at this point, but besides Edward, only two men and the waitress were there. Edward got to his feet when I approached and helped me into my chair. I wasn’t use to men being so chivalrous.

“The dress looks amazing on you, Christy” Edward stated with a smile. “I knew it would be a good fit on you.”

I got to know Edward even more that night. We talked about his job, and why it was the reason he was still single. Being a top business man didn’t really leave him time for a social life. I could understand that. My dad had to sacrifice his career to take care of me when I was younger, and when I got old enough to care for myself, he had to make up for all that lost time. Of course, he walked out on us shortly after that, but that’s not the point. The point is, I could relate to Edward.

I learnt that despite being an only child, Edward had always been part of a large, close knit family which is why he wanted to participate in my challenge. His cousin – who he talked about like a brother – had already settled down and had children of his own. He wanted to give his own parents that same joy.

When our dinner finally arrived, I cheered with satisfaction. The meal was so wonderfully prepared that it was almost a shame to eat it. It looked like a little piece of heaven.

Edward got very excited when soft, romantic music began to play.

So we danced. It was the perfect way to end such a wonderful evening. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not falling in love with Edward. As charming as he can be, I’m not ready to fall in love with anyone. Ice is still in the back of my mind although I’m no longer dwelling on his departure like I use to do. I’ve dreamt of selling my house and taking my children out to find him, but I know that’s silly. Still, this evening with Edward was just what I needed to convince me to keep going with my challenge.

As agreed on the previous night, I met Edward at his home. He was being just as charming as he had been the previous night so I agreed to allow him to be the next father for my challenge.

He escorted me upstairs to his bedroom and we got down to business.

Only moments after we had finished, I heard a very loud and upset scream coming from the door of the bedroom. There stood a woman about my age, but the most noticeable thing about her was her stomach. I had been pregnant enough times before to know when I saw another pregnant woman. She looked to be about 4 months along and she was furious.

At first, I didn’t understand why she was so upset. I didn’t even know who she was until she started yelling at Edward then everything became crystal clear. This woman was his wife

The next thing I know, she had turned her icy glare onto me. I’ll admit that I was terrified. I had unknowingly broken up her growing family. I was not only terrified of what she might say, but more so what she might do. I could handle whatever she had to say to me, but I didn’t want to see her unborn child getting hurt because of her seething rage towards me.

Or so I thought I’d be able to handle what she had to say. She called me every vile, disgusting name under the sun. Many of which I refuse to repeat here today in my blog. I didn’t even know there were so many words in the Simlish dictionary for what I had done to this woman, for what this action had made me in her eyes.

“Please,” I begged her. “I swear I didn’t know Edward was married. I’m not that kind of woman. He told me he was single and that’s the only reason why I agreed.”

The woman was quick to raise her hand, silencing my pleas for forgiveness instantly. “I don’t want to hear it, home wrecker. All you women are exactly the same. All fun and games until the wife comes home and then you suddenly turn into a clueless moron. I’m not buying it.”

The woman hurried out of the room. I could hear her cries as she rushed downstairs and slammed the front door. I glanced over at Edward who was smiling at this point. He was certain that he was in the clear now that his wife was gone.

The smug expression on his face only made me even angrier. I started screaming. I wanted to hit him for doing this to me. For doing this to his pregnant wife. How could he be so heartless?

I continued to rant at him for the next fifteen minutes or so before I found myself saying. “After what you did, you don’t deserve to be a part of this child’s life. You’re a lying, deceitful monster and I don’t want you anywhere near my child. Do you understand me? STAY AWAY!!”

This comment seemed to anger him more than anything else I had said to him. His face twisted and quickly turned into a snarling expression.

“You will regret those words, Christy Quinn.” Edward threatened as I continued to glare at him. “Mark my words, you will rue the day you ever messed with Edward Rayner.”

I wish now that I had known just how truthful that statement would end up being. If I had, maybe I wouldn’t have taken his threats so lightly. Maybe I could have prevented what was about to happen.

Hope you guys enjoyed this update. It was a real pain to get all of the pictures for it between all of the crashes, but I’m hoping to have part 2 out as soon as I possibly can. I could have gotten a lot more vulgar with the speech parts, however I didn’t want to offend anyone and wanted all ages to be able to enjoy my challenge. Hopefully it didn’t take away from the quality of the update.

Now for a little background on Edward Rayner for those of you who are interested. Edward was stolen from one of my husband’s unfinished legacies that he still plays from time to time when I’m not using the sims myself. He was the son of the 7th generation spare, and cousin to the 8th generation heir. He has always been one of my favorites from that legacy – although his cousin may make an appearance in the future. Edward was named after Edward Nigma, and for those of you who know who that is, you will understand why he is dressed in green.

    • Like I mentioned, I absolutely love Edward and I hate that I’m having to make him out to be so mean, but his personality fits. He actually called Christy the entire time she was pregnant like he was checking up on her. I don’t think any dad has done that before
